As if life as I know it isn’t about to change anywhere between two hours to two weeks from now, I’ve decided to participate in Calling it Home’s One Room Challenge – Fall 2015. I’ve only just stumbled along the concept this past weekend so I just made it in time for the first week’s reveal this Thursday. Twice a year, Calling it Home hosts the challenge and 20 design bloggers participate in redesigning one designated space for a 6 week time period. Their progress are posted on Wednesdays. The rest of the blogging world (like myself) can choose to partipate in the challenge as guest participants. Our progress updates are shared on Thursdays.
I thoroughly enjoyed putting together my little man’s nursery. It’s become my favorite room in the house. Then, at night, I go to our master bedroom and instantly feel underwhelmed. It’s so plain. Our old bedroom in RI was fairly small so we acquired minimal furniture. We also had a whole house to rehab and refurnish so our budget was minimal. We settled for a few Malm bedroom pieces from IKEA. Six years and a move across country later, we still have the same simple yet functional bedroom set. I saw this challenge as a perfect opportunity to revamp our bedroom. With a new baby coming anytime now, our decorating budget is still minimal. However, I believe I can still transform this space by utilizing a lot of DIY elements. We’ve already transformed one piece of furniture that I will be revealing on Thursday! I hope you come back and follow along this six week journey. Who knows, maybe you’ll be inspired to revamp your space! For now, here are a few before photos of our boring bedroom.
