If you are anything like me, you struggle between the desire for the finer things but want to keep negative environmental/world impacts to a minimum. High-end skincare lines scream luxury but are often at the expense of the animals they are tested on and the environment it exploits. Add toxins and preservatives to the mix and the luxury becomes a little less desirable. That is why LXMI skin care is a game changer. As the title of this post states – they are luxury skin care that gives a damn.
What is LXMI?
LXMI is a vegan luxury skin care line launched in Sephora in October of 2016. Named after the creator’s favorite Hindu goddess of beauty + prosperity, LXMI #workswonders; for the skin and for women. Its key ingredient Nilotica, stems from age old trees that can only be found at the Nile Valley in Uganda. When extracted & cold pressed, it becomes a luxurious butter on it’s own without the need of emulsifiers or preservatives. It also contains 25% more fatty acids than traditional shea butter with more vitamins A + E. Also unlike traditional shea butter, Nilotica immediately melts beautifully on your skin.
Beauty for Humanity
Civil War has ravaged Uganda for decades preventing economy boosting exports and has kept the women with very little opportunity to earn for their families. The countries natural beauty secrets have been hidden from the world. Until now. This is where LXMI works for women: they pay 3x the normal wage to women of oppressed regions to harvest, produce, and export organic Nilotica Reserve™. Like you and me, these women are empowered with work and not charity. So by treating your skin to ultimate hydration, you are supporting employment to women a world over. It doesn’t get better than that in the skincare game.
My Skincare Routine
I’ve been using LXMI exclusively for about a month now. During the day, I use the Creme Du Nil (Cream of the Nile) which is a lightweight but ultra-hydrating moisturizer. It also acts like as a perfect veil to go under make-up. The little travel sized bit came in perfectly handy during my recent travel back to the east coast. Airplane’s dehydrate my skin badly and the Creme Du Nil adds the perfect amount of hydration without leaving your skin greasy or saturated.
In the evening, the Pure Nilotica Melt Nourishing Balm-to-Oil is my saving grace. It’s the perfect overnight treatment for dry, damaged skin (which Colorado residents are infamous for having). My favorite thing about the Nilotica melt is that it only has one ingredient – the Nilotica Reserve™ shea butter. That’s it! It’s free from all the gunk that makeup and traditional skin care products have that you can even eat it! For this reason, the tub comes with a beautiful wand to prevent fingers from contaminating the butter. The copper tip can also be used to smooth the balm under your eyes. And a little bit of this product goes a very long way. I’ve had the tub for a month and I’ve barely used a quarter of the product.
For those looking for a clean, natural, and organic alternative to their skin care regimen, definitely check out LXMI. You can find more info on their site LXMI.com or at Sephora.
