Now that Thanksgiving is here, everyone who celebrates can finally start thinking about Christmas. With gift-giving season only a few short weeks away, I’ve started to think about my upcoming purchases… I’m putting special thought to children’s gifts. Before I became a parent, I’d buy my nieces and nephews what I thought were fun. I didn’t think about consequences for the person cleaning up after them (play doh crusted carpet, lego pieces all over the place, etc). Now that I am on the other side, I’d prefer for Apollo to receive gifts that go beyond instant gratification. I want to give gifts that keep giving.
I’ve brainstormed a few of my favorite things that Apollo has received this past year. These next couple of weeks, I will be sharing posts on our favorite gifts that keep giving and I am starting it with Bookroo.
I come from very humble beginnings. My parents had me when they were very young so they had to abandon school to join the workforce. All my life, my dad always worked multiple jobs. Despite his lack of schooling, my papa is very wise. One thing he’s always advised me was to keep learning. He said knowledge is something that people can never take away from you. You can lose your home in a tragedy and lose a job in an instant… but as long as you’re equipped with knowledge, you can always make a comeback.
He did his best to instill this lesson in u, and one way he did was through books. I think that’s why I fell in love with reading at a young age… always looking forward to the monthly Scholastics newspaper to see what I can get with the change I saved up. My parents didn’t have a budget to take us on many vacations, but getting lost in a book allowed me to explore people and places I’d only dreamed of. Now, my only hope is that Apollo develops the same affinity for written language. One way I am encouraging that is with the help of Bookroo.
I’ve talked about Bookroo on here a couple times in the past. Bookroo is a book monthly subscription box curated specially for your child’s age group. Packages from Bookroo is something we look forward to. Every month, beautifully wrapped books arrive at our door. We open them together and sit side by side on the couch thumbing through pages.
I think giving the gift of Bookroo is a gift that keeps giving. With their affordable subscription service starting at only $17.99/mo, you can give kids a gift that goes beyond the holiday season. You’ll also open up their worlds through imagination.
With Black Friday & Cyber Monday upon us, I have an amazing discount to share with you. You can use the code BFSUPER for any multi-month subscription (3,6, or 12 months). One redemption per family. This is valid for new customers only. Existing customers may use for the purchase of one gift subscription. Valid 11/24 – midnight PST 11/27
Check them out and make sure you check back for our next feature on gifts that keep on giving.
